VOCATIONS

During the month of July let us remember to pray for vocations. We need more priests in our diocese as there is need for new missions. We have to open a mission in a place like Siabuwa. You see the need of priests.

Let us remind one another few things concerning the vocation to priesthood. May we read Mark 10:28-31 what does Jesus say? In the words of Jesus, the disciple. “has given up home, brothers or sisters, mother or father, children or property” for Jesus and for the Gospel. The true disciple of Christ is wholeheartedly attached to Jesus. He has preferred Jesus to all that the world holds dear.

May those who are called to priesthood be able to hear and follow generously the voice of the Divine Master.

MOTHERS OF SEMINARIANS SPEAK

When my son Tatenta attended the Pre- Seminary workshop at Chimuniko, at first I took it as a simple issue.

When he was accepted  at the Minor seminary in Dete it was a shock to me because I did not expect it.

Hence I realized that the good Lord had something to do about my faith in my family.

AS a parent I feel that let us rise more awareness and encourage our children to open their hearts  and mind  to God. It is our duty as parents to pray for them so as to motivate them. I am very happy; may the will of the Lord  be done to him.

Jesus said: “You did not choose me, but I chose you (Jn.15:16)

THANKING GOD FOR THE GIFT OF PRIESTHOOD

This year at the beginning of July we have an event to start our focus on vocations during this month traditionally dedicated to vocations.

Fifty years ago our Bishop and Fr. Alphonse Trujillo were ordained priests. To celebrate it Bishop Albert decided to invite the whole Diocese to meditate on Priesthood and celebrate with thanks giving and prayer the gift of God to his Church.  On 2nd July St. Mary’s Mission provided the stage for the solemn and well attended celebration.

The priest “given” to the People of God is a gift for others, their property, loses his ownership of self in favour of those to whom he is given. The gift I give to somebody changes ownership: Stops being mine to be the property of the one to whom it is given. So we can say that the priest does not belong to himself but to the people. People at times consider priesthood as a “dignity”, a “privilege” conferred on men; but can the priest have the same perspective? The only meaning of priesthood is based on service, dedication, self sacrifice for the people of God, imitation of Christ; He is “other Christ” and acts “in the person of Christ.
